Machines of Freedom: The Soundtrack
If you just want to download the music, you can go directly to this link. Below the cut are the song titles, quotes from them, and matching quotes from Machines of Freedom. While the quotes don't actually reveal anything about the plot, they do hint at some of the things--and, in particular, some of the people--that appear at various points. If you want to be strictly unspoiled, don't read below the cut.

1. Storm Coming - Gnarls Barkley

There's a storm on the way, uh huh
And it's comin' no matter what I say

Listen to our lives
The wind will whisper the way it is
I am going to happen
What a lovely day it is

"Dr. Scully? You just got a file from the virology lab?"

2. Amazing - Kanye West

I'm a monster, I'm a maven
I know this world is changin'
Never gave in, never gave up
I'm the only thing I'm afraid of

His knees weren't up for hopping fences or chasing speeding cars anymore, and if he tried to jump on a train he'd fall off, more likely than not.

3. It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) - R.E.M.

Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck.

Save yourself, serve yourself.

Oh my God, she was doing it again, she was leaving her baby and fleeing cross-country in a car with forged plates. Shit, the plates. She had to remember to pull them out of the box in the basement.

4. The Seed (2.0) - The Roots

I don't beg I can hold my own
I don't break I can hold the chrome

Mulder had one hand on his jammed gun, the other on his son's shoulder, and no earthly idea where they were going.

5. Streets On Fire - Lupe Fiasco

Death is on the tip of her tongue and danger's at the tip of her fingers
Streets are on fire tonight

Disease the virus is spreading in all directions
No safe zone no cure and no protection

"Well, you're just going to be in charge of running the guns for the entire world's defense system against the John Hurt Moment. Why would that scare a person?"

6. Lucifer - Jay-Z

Lucifer, Lucifer, son of the morning
I'm gonna chase you out of Earth

Man, I gotta get my soul right
I gotta get these Devils out my life
These cowards gonna make a n**** ride
They won't be happy til somebody dies

Leave, she thought. Just go. Find someone else to do terrible things to.

7. Apocalypse Please - Muse

And it's time we saw a miracle
Come on, it's time for something biblical

This was really, really not a good sign.

8. Machine - Regina Spektor

I collect my moments
Into a correspondence
With a mightier power
Who just lacks my perspective
And who lacks my organics

"Yeah, I think the kid stays."

9. Hello Goodbye (Uncool) - Lupe Fiasco

And you couldn't find the story line if you survive to retell
We are targets, Hello darkness

His gift for not fighting another man's war

All he had to do was stay conscious, keep talking. For a little while.

10. Coldest Winter - Kanye West

Goodbye, my friend
Will I ever love again?
Memories made in the coldest winter

He tried to say her name, wanted to say I'm sorry and I didn't want to die here and I love you and I'm sorry, I'm really really sorry, I just wanted to help.

"Really," she said. "Just, that's it, bye."

11. Gracie - Ben Folds

You can't fool me, I saw you when you came out
You got your mama's taste but you got my mouth

With one hand she wiped her cheeks dry, and smiled up at him. At least someone had gotten his mouth.

Muse is always appropriate for awesomeness. Especially "Absolution"!
